Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
