Iran Declares It Could Return to US Atomic Discussions provided that Approached with 'Respect' and 'Respect'
Tehran is ready to restart nuclear discussions with the United States on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has declared.
Abbas Araghchi said exclusively dialogue was effective, and revealed fresh requests had originated from go-betweens to restart discussions with the American leadership. He claimed Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.
Walking a Challenging Route
Araghchi is navigating a difficult course since Iran does not want be seen to be acting from a situation of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged stronger defensively and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.
He was talking at a security conference in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will never give up" – the main reason of the stalemate in the earlier negotiations.
Earlier Talks Abruptly Terminated
The earlier sessions of negotiations between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with US support, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a 12-day war that ended with the US president declaring the locations had been eliminated. Following this, Western states employed their privilege to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.
Magic Solution Suggested
Tehran representatives said they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was entirely non-military.
It had not been agreed in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could operate inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Representatives asserted repeatedly they had achieved a deal with Washington's diplomat the American negotiator only for the deal to fall apart due to "spoilers in Washington".
Current Situation
Tehran representatives stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the suggestion could be resurrected in various formats if talks reopen.
Trump last week claimed he had been getting signals that Iran desired to reopen negotiations, but in private Iranian officials claim they are not yet getting coherent offers from America either straightforwardly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been criticized of inactivity in the wake of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Iran states diplomacy is not part of a performance.
Negotiating Position
In his speech to the forum, intended to portray the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the idea of global regulations, the foreign minister declared the fortnight-long engagement demonstrated the dispute could not be resolved by armed force. He said the strikes began with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an complete request for a halt to hostilities.
Iran is certain the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were mounted with full US knowledge and cooperation, making faith hard to restore.
Diplomacy Remains the Final Solution
Araghchi said: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was America and the European states that had consistently sought to dictate their demands during the discussions. Diplomacy can still be alive and stays the primary solution to settle disagreements, but its criteria, guidelines and fundamentals must be respected."
"Provided that they talk to the nation of Iran with the language of respect and respect, they will receive a response in the equivalent approach."
Repair and Reconstruction
In what is described by Tehran representatives as the conflict of recovery and recovery, the foreign minister said he was confident Iran's security strengths "have significantly improved than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been restored. We learned numerous insights from this war; we have identified our own weaknesses and the weaknesses of the adversary."
He continued: "We effectively endured this war. Our nuclear technology, which they aimed to eliminate, remains in place. The sites and machinery, if eliminated, will be restored; what is important is the will of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they targeted, but did not succeed to break. The citizens of Tehran have developed more resilient, more integrated, and more endorsing of the leadership and the country in the wake of this invasion."
